So, I still haven't even remotely had a chance to do a big late 2011 update....
I have however put in my request for part time hours at work. Hopefully it will come through soon so I can get back to normal service with everything.

Lots and lots planned over the next few months. Getting back into the swing with some music photography...In the process of sorting out passes for a few gigs so keep your eyes peeled! Off to London for a creative fashion photography studio workshop next month. Shooting some burlesque promo shots for Cherry Loco and Wild Card Kittty and for a DJ I work with at my day job (we are shooting on the roof terrace of the office which has an incredible view of the Edinburgh skyline!). 5 weddings and counting so far for 2012. Bright it on!!

With it being January and with me working in an office for a high street fashion retailer I really don;t have a lot to do at the moment. I have mostly been wasting my days working out for I can go back to uni in September and now be pennyless and lusting over editorials and lookbooks on Fashion Rogue.

So instead of the usual mass of my work here are some editorials I am in love with at the moment:

1. Prada Spring 2012 - shot by Steven Meisel with models: including: Natasha Poly, Guinevere van Seenus, Elise Crombez, Meghan Collison, Katryn Kruger & Ymre Stiekema.

I have been swooning over this collection all day. Please someone buy me the lot of it. Ice cream colours, 50s influence with kitsch retro prints and motifs, sexy vintage cars and smouldering models. What more would you want? I love that this shoot doesn't look like a relic from the past, such a great and modern take. I have been a little bit frustrated with shooting vintage pinup photography recently and trying to look for new ways of shooting and this has got me inspired to start again.

2. SS12 Mulberry Shot by Tim Walker with models Lindsey Wixson and Frida Gustavsson.

This shoot popped up on my screen and gah, everything about it. love love love. Brighton beach one of my favourite places, lots of giant rock, ice creams, seaside stripes one of my fave fashion photographers and Frida Gustavsson who's beautiful face and everything else I adore. I think I am getting a small obsession for all these ice cream colours. Let's hope there is some sunshine this year so I can break out from my usual tones of black, black red,, leopard and more black......

3. Behind the scenes H&M Versace collection with Abby Lee Kershaw

Could this woman get any more perfect if she tried? This shoot in general is just incredible. Look at the lighting set up. Dreaming of some day being able to work on shoots like this.

4. Anna Zakusylo for Vogue Turkey September 2010 by Emre Ünal

Who can resist a lady in red? I know this shoot is from a while back but I love it too much. The hues in this shoot against the city grey stones look incredible. If only I could look as good as this on a daily basis.

So, I know this blog is a bit different from the norm but I have actually thoroughly enjoyed typing something a bit different for a change, so maybe I will keep it up!! Any feedback and suggestions are much welcomed.

So 2012 has hit already!!

I promise a mass update soon... the rest of 2011 was the busiest and craziest I have been. 2012 is set to be even bigger. I resolve to shoot more bands, work less hours at my day job aaaaaaand i'm gonna go back to uni and rock it at studying photography.

I'm gonna do a mass update of 2nd half of 2011 highlights and shots soon but for now here is how I brought in 2012.

Manchester, Vegas (the club) and roller derby!

Since my last post I've managed to have a couple of says off in Manchester. I went shopping in Afflecks and along Oldham St then caught a band from Glasgow called Sons and Daughters supported by The Paris Riots and She's Hit at the amazingly beautiful Deaf Institute. Of course I couldn't help but take some photos.

It was back from Manchester and off to Vegas (well the club) to do some more events photography for them. Here's a small selection of the shots. The rest will be up on the clubs website and a few will be in the Evening News soon.

On Saturday I worked with the girls at Miss Dixiebelle on a Roller Derby style shoot. Model: Teniah Twisted, Hair: Vanity Thrills, Make-up by Kimberley Dewar, Nails by Miss Cutie Kills. The dress was a cute flamingo print one that is sold in the shop by designer Oh My Honey. I do love Flamingos me!

a little bit of physical theatre

I've never really been to the theatre that much. I wasn't really sure what to expect when my friend Cat asked me along to take some shots for her end of course physical theatre show in Glasgow at The Arches last week.

I really enjoyed the show. There was a lot of emotion, comedy and a lot of deep personal pieces. So much emotion, so few words.

missy malone, weddings, pegasus bridge, the futures, and miss dixibelle shoot

It's been a busy few weeks for me as always.... a word of warning this blog is goign to be VERY image heavy!

I've been editing away more of the shoot of Missy Malone from last month. Here is a few we shot for company Bow and Crossbones

Here is also a teaser image of Missy Malone's 'Goldrush' act costume which I think I may end up using for my book.

And here is a shot in more of a fashion editorial style using a headpiece by designer Mairi Brunning.

It's been a bit wedding editing crazy recently... I'm barely finished the proofs from the last month and it was off to shoot Brian & Kristy's wedding at the beautiful Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh. It was the sunniest day we have had so far which made for a challenge for the group shots with no cloud cover I could do my usual 'shoot the group shots towards the sun' trick! I had the amazing Andrew Moore 2nd shooting for me and I'm so thrilled with how the shots have turned out. Here is a few of my shots:

A few weeks ago when I was in Oxford I met the boys from the amazing Pegasus Bridge. I went through to Glasgow last week to do some promo shots for them, shot their sound check and took some live snaps of them. I took some live snaps of The Futures who they have been supporting on tour. There is no photo pit at the ABC so I had to push my way to the front but I'm still really pleased with the pics.

Last weekend I worked with the girls at Miss Dixiebelle to shoot some images of the clothes they have in store for the SS11 collection. I'm still editing them at the moment so here is a preview - more soon!

I never stop..............

I've been feeling a bit rubbish over the last few weeks and crashing my car topped it all off. I was pulling out of a junction and a car crashed into me.. I have amazing friends though. Cocktails with my name buddy Lorena, a night of dancing with my friends from my call centre job and I'm getting myself back on track again. There is no point in sitting and dwelling on my rubbish mood. It's not going to help anything and just make things worse. Back to working mode for me! Positive positive positive. I can do it.

Then it was off to London for London Burlesque week. Got off the train and went to meet my friends Cat and Tom for tea at this super cute secret vintage tea room in Soho then it was off to photograph at the opening gala at the HMS President boat on the Themes. I couldnt get my Vaseline covered filter from a shoot off the camera and the lighting was too plain to make the effect work and the white balance on my camera was a bit off and i was shooting JPG only not RAW. I'm pretty pleased with them although I feel I could have gotten much better shots. My handle on my suitcase broke so the journey back to my friend Cat & Toms flat in Maida Vale was a bit of the nightmare and I was exhausted and close to tears on the way back. It;s times like that that make me realize how big and unfriendly London is! I do love it though.

So it was back from London and the next day I was shooting some beauty shots for my photography portfolio with head pieces by Mairi Brunning, Model: Agata Myszkowska and hair and make up by the talented Kimberley Dewar. What a team! It was a beautiful day so we made the best of it and went down to a Japanese garden near my house instead of shooting studio style. I'm so thrilled with how they turned out. Then the next day I got sick.....I hate being ill. It's even worse when I'm so busy trying to fit in everything I do around a 30 hr a week day job in a call centre. So bed it was to be for 2 days for me before shooting a wedding whilst still pretty ill. I'm so thankful I had the amazingly talented Andrew Moore 2nd shooting for me. Couldn't have done it without him! I rocked the sudafed and lucazade. Got some kick ass pics. I was shooting the boys getting ready for once which was a bit strange as I normally shoot the bride getting ready. I loved it the boys were so chilled out and a such a laugh. I'm just starting to edit these this week so heres a few unedited previews. Will do a proper wedding update soon!

I shook off my cold finally to shoot Missy Malone.! After about 4 years we have finally done a proper shoot. We did some shots in my house of her in a cute agent provocateur playsuit. We shot some in the Japanese garden for some accessories companies and a Scottish Belle look with a sporran and flashes stolen form my brother then it was back to mine when the rain came to shoot her Goldrush act costume for my book. I'm sorry I'm a rubbish blogger!

March ended with another wedding booked, 2 burlesque shows performed and a big show booked at the Keble Ball in Oxford... then April began with a day in the studio working with Katrina Darling. I've shot her a couple of times but has recently changed her hair colour to orange. We planned a creative portrait shoot along with hair and make-up artist Kimberley Dewar. Here's a selection of some of the shots we took. The outfits were styled between myself and Katrina. Since we took these photos things have gone a bit mad for her as she is a distant relative of Kate Middleton and has been featured in the press. (sorry about the massive watermarks - dont want them nicked by the press)

I am so thrilled that a editorial I assisted on last year with London photographer Natalie J Watts has been published in the April 2011 edition of Vecu Magazine http://issuu.com/scoutmag/docs/april_issue_web . Congrats to Natalie as she is a totally phenomenal photographer and I am a big fan of her work.

Yesterday I shot a editorial for Indicate magazine for designer Jennie Loof who creates stunning one-off dresses, skirts, trousers, tops and coats from second hand and vintage fabrics. I managed to put together the shoot in the space of 2 days... thanks to my model Lynn aka Bambi from Brightside models, hair and make-up artist Kimberley Dewar, Jennie Loof for her stunning pieces and Chris her press rep for helping us find some stunning locations hidden away in Glasgow Botanics for us to shoot. Here is a sneak preview - cant wait to see the editorial put together.

I would also like to say congrats to Lisa Cunningham who I photographed last year for Lady Jo Jo's Boutique and Kirsty aka Ivory Lovelust one of the amazing make-up artists I work with for both being ffeatured in the current issue of Company Magazine and also in the Daily Record wooooo hooooo.

Also it looks like I will be back shooting some music festivals this summer. Oh yes I'm excited. Bring on the rain, the sun, the bands and of course running around with my cameras!

In the next week I have 3 modelling shoots, 30 hours of work at my call centre job, and lots of rehearsing to do. I'm off to London for a week to perform at London Burlesque Week, hopefully do some photography assisting and hide from anything to do with the Royal wedding (I'm thinking a dark coffee shop in Camden with my laptop, ipod and edting!).

I'm really starting to enjoy the mix of all my different jobs this year, every day is so different and fantastic!

Betty D'Light and Ooh La La

Here is a preview of my most recent shoot with the lovely Betty D'Light the other week. The shots will be released at the start of April as its a wee bit early for Easter shots yet. But they are worth waiting for! Hair MU & styling by me and Betty.

I've been busy over the past couple of weeks working on some new burlesque acts and having a wee bit of chill time before the manic wedding season starts.

Tomorrow (Sunday 20th March) I will be doing my first ever stall at a fair called "Oooh La La" which is quite exciting. Come down if you wanna have a chat with me or look through my portfolio books. Will have my wedding, fashion and retro work with me in A4 folios and as a one off I will be selling some prints off which I no longer use in my book or that have been used in exhibitions in various sizes at fantastic prices.

agata, miss dixibelle, the correspondents

It seems like wedding season is back upon us as over the last week I have had quite a lot of email enquiries from brides to be. I will be putting some packages together with Miss Dixibelle shortly to include hair and make up as well as photography. I would highly recommend that any brides to be get in touch with them as I have been working with Ivory Lovelust and Vanity Thrills on shoots recently and they are both so talented and lovely.

It was back in my friend Andrew's studio with Ivory Lovelust, Venity Thrills and the stunning Agata (I do love a red head me!) to work on some creative editorial shots. The original idea was to do a spin on the idea of the black and white film stills and to have the model in dark make up and clothes on a white background with only her skin in colour. After seeing Andrew's cream background it set off her skin and hair too beautifully to resist using it. I was shooting with a mix of my 24-105 f4 L and Andrew's 85mm f1.2 L (which I now want even more than I did before).

Last week I shot a few promo shots for Emma who runs Miss Dixibelle for a feature on her in the April issue of I-On Magazine .

It was off back to Vegas Club on Saturday night at the Voodoo Rooms. Although I wasn't officially there to take photos I still couldn't resist bringing along my camera and taking some snaps of The Correspondents. The singer was so hard to snap the amount he jumps about on stage - even I was exhausted watching him! They were totally excellent though. I'm listening to a lot of the electro swing music at the moment.

This weekend I am shooting an awesome twisted Easter editorial shoot with the stunning Betty D'Light.

Millie, Mille, Millie Dollar

It's been a busy couple of weeks for me.

I started the photo shoots for my burlesque book project with the lovely Millie Dollar. We started off doing hair and make up at Miss Dixibelle with hair by the lovely Vanity Thrills Vintage Hair and make up by Ivory Lovelust. We then moved onto Ghillie Dhu to do the shoot.

Firstly we shot a film noir inspired look with outfit from Miss Dixibelle....

We then moved onto photographing Millie's 'Dior' inspired burlesque costume for my book....

And finally onto some latex pieces. A Sailor inspired outfit for Cathouse Latex then a red dress for the amazing Jane Doe.

The next day it was then onto shooting Missy Malone's burlesque show at the Voodoo Rooms. The Voodoo Rooms is a very intimate venue and is quite hard to photograph good live burlesque shots but I was pretty happy with the lighting and got some of the best burlesque shots I've taken at the venue. I've been taking a lot more close up shots of performers recently so I decided to use my 70-200mm f2.8 lens. Here are a few of my faves from the night....

2011 has started with a bang!

It was one of my goals (I don't do resolutions) this year to start and maintain a blog so since it's now February I thought it was about time that I got it started! I last had a blog on livejournal when I was about 16 so this is going to be quite far away from angsty teen me back then.

My 2011 got off to a bang photographing for Vegas Club down at Ocean Terminal with great choons, fabulously dressed up people, burlesque and showgirls galore. Vegas is always my favourite way to spend Hogmanay and I had a great (and sober) night snapping and for the first time ever a non hungover (but very sleepy) New Years day!

Another of my goals for early this year was to get my website overhauled. Thanks to the amazingly talented and kind Andrew Kendall who I know from my music photography snapping days I am trialling his website software Digital Photo Gallery. I couldn't be more thrilled with my website which is a pretty much exactly what I was looking to do with it.

I get a lot of requests from new models for portfolio shoots and last week I worked with the beautiful Leyah who has just started modelling and was looking for a burlesque themed photo shoot. I'm using my friend Andrew R Moore's studio and he had set up a dreamy set with lots of netting so I decided to use this for a bit of a different look than a standard studio shoot. Hair and make up was by Tracy Kane. Styling and wardrobe by me.

After years of talking about it this year I am also working on a UK burlesque book of live and portrait shots of some of the best UK burlesque talent. Shooting the first of the new content with the amazing Millie Dollar later in the week .
